Big brother | Little Sister. | Welcome baby girl.

“We have to call Keri to make sure she has time!” — those are the words Kathy said to Bill as they were in the hospital getting ready to welcome their second blessing to their family!  Kathy knows I typically photograph newborns 14 days and younger and we had already scheduled our session for the early May.  The trouble was, Ava decided to make her grand entrance at the end of April! Lucky for us, I was able to fit it in and we had no problems.  I have to admit, when Kathy told me this story of being in the hospital, it made me laugh and made me feel so grateful for the clients I have! See, Kathy, Bill and I had the pleasure of meeting two years ago when their adorable little man, Zackary was born.  We chatted and laughed through our entire session, as if we had been friends forever.  There is something so exciting and joyful about watching a new family find their footing as their journey with their new bundle of joy (who has completely turned their worlds upside down!)  Kathy and Bill were no exception and I knew from that moment I was blessed to have met them.

I first started playing with Zackary and right away, all I could think was, ‘this little boy is just a ball of joy!’ Everything he shared with me was exciting, he was thrilled to show me his trucks, his elephant, anything! He was beaming to show me all his things.  He wanted to help carry all my props and gear around. When we played peekaboo,  I couldn’t help but giggle with him as his laugh is just infectious. Before we started with his little sisters photos, I had to capture this little mans spirit as he is, right now.   I know all too well these days go too fast.

After Zackary’s few shots – it was time for his sweet little sister, Ava.  As soon as I scooped her up, I was hooked. Her sweet newborn scent. Her big newborn stretches. Her little newborn squeaks.  Those are the things we forget. Her little finger nails are so tiny, her hair is so fine and whispy. Her eyes are so bright.  She is perfect. I knew I had to put her down and start photographing all these little things soon or I’d have just spent the day holding her!

So without further ado. Here she is. Welcome to the world sweet baby Ava. I’m so glad you’re here.
