“How do you work this big fancy camera?”
I started out my photography journey as a way to document the memories of my own sweet baby boy (10 years ago!) As I studied his little face as a brand new baby, I was fixated on remembering every detail about him. The way he wrapped his fingers around my pinky, the way his little hair kicked out behind his ear, the way he smiled with his eyes when I could make him laugh, all of it! I never wanted to forget the details. So after a lot of late night online reading (usually holding the said baby!) a lot of online classes and a few workshops, I felt like my camera had become an extension of my hands; I was never without it.
After months of practice and a significant learning curve, I made the transition into launching my business. People always ask if it was my dream to be a photographer and truthfully, it wasn’t! My deepest dream was to become a Mom and a teacher! I’m so blessed and incredibly grateful that I have been given the gift of both of those titles – neither that I take lightly!
Over the years I have had countless clients tell me how they have a ‘fancy’ camera but no idea how to use it. It was that very phrase that created my ‘Get in Focus’ workshop. (This workshop runs throughout the year as a 3 hour format. More on the next workshop coming soon.) I’ve been teaching that workshop for the last 6 years but during that time we have discovered there are a lot of attendees that desired more of a personalized program to go a little deeper – especially since the 3 hour workshop is an introduction to photography. After multiple requests, we created our one on one mentoring options and have been offering those for the last 3 years!
As a Mom I know what it’s like to feel frustrated that you’re missing shots, moments, and memories simply because you don’t know how to use equipment. I know what it feels like to be fidgety with your camera and you aren’t even really present for your son blowing out the birthday candles or your daughter scoring the winning soccer goal! How would it feel to be able to watch these memories as they are happening AND be confidently document them through your camera as well! Can you imagine what it will feel like when you print the images of your daughter’s first time standing on her own? What about the time your son covered his face in brownie mix? I know these are the little moments you want to remember and I can help you learn the necessary tools and skills to take those photos so they will become a treasure for generations to come (or at the very least an embarrassing photo for their high school senior year slideshow!)
Let’s go from feeling frustrated to inspired! We will take on shutter speed, ISO, aperture and light – (and if you don’t know what any of those things are yet, no problem! I’ve got you covered!) We have two options for one on one mentoring at the Studio located in Essex, MA. Simply bring your camera and a notebook and we’ll take care of the rest! We will establish a schedule based on the option that works best for you, schedule your dates in advance and set you up for success!
Short and Sweet Option: This mentoring session is 6 weeks in total. It includes (3) one hour – in-person sessions schedule with an implementation week in between. On the alternate weeks, there will be a lessons assigned for you to work on between our meetings. You will also have access via email to me directly during the training for any issues or questions the come up. The cost is $597 (or 2 payments of $328.)
Slow and Steady Option: This mentoring session is 12 weeks in total. It includes (6) one hour – in-person sessions schedule with an implementation week in between. On the alternate weeks, there will be a lessons assigned for you to work on between our meetings. You will also have access via email and phone to me directly during the training for any issues or questions the come up. This option also includes one date of on-location shooting in real time with me! We will discuss actual shooting situations and apply the knowledge we have learned! You also have access via email and phone/text to me directly for any questions that come up! We get into the specifics of composition, lighting, importing images, organizing family photos, backing up, and even lightly retouching images if desired! The cost for this is $1297 (or 3 payments of $475.)
If you’re looking to really learn the tools to document your own family memories, the everyday memories, the little things you don’t want to forget – please get in touch! It would be my honor to help you capture these memories!
With love,
Keri
