Earlier this week Jackson, Molly and I traveled to Long Island to visit one of our very best friends, Michele, and her kids. Michele is also a photographer so I asked her if we could do some shooting while we were there. I had some ideas of what I wanted to do with my kids and since they would be in a new place I thought it might cut back on the PCS (Photographer’s Child Syndrome – you know, where they act all crazy and won’t cooperate for the session!) Turns out not always the case, but lucky for us, Michele was there to keep me in line! Michele also was gracious enough to take some photos of my kids with me! It’s been quite some time since I have been on the other side of the lens! (In fact, Michele is the one who took my headshot a few years ago!)
So many times we think of family photo sessions in the summer months on the beach, or fall in the foliage. While I absolutely love those sessions as well, I have fallen in love with winter sessions too. Last year we didn’t have nearly the amount of snow we are getting this year. There was a lot of frigid temperatures but not much snow. This year, it’s as if we live in Arendelle. While it’s definitely more work, a lot more stressful, it makes for beautiful photos! I mean, there’s a silver lining, right! Want to see what a winter session can look like?
Here are some of my favorites from Michele…
And a few favorites I took myself.
This is what photographers child syndrome looks like from the boy!
